EarthVPN Review

Security and privacy are two of the major concerns internet users all around the world are facing today. Virtual Private Network (VPN) is an excellent tool that helps avoiding online surveillance and allows you to surf the internet without any restrictions. But at what extent?

Based in Northern Cyprus, EarthVPN is a relatively new VPN service that looks promising at first glance.  It’s a provider that boasts a huge network of VPN servers, offers great prices, and even more such amazing features. But, how can you be sure that you can entirely trust this VPN service with your valuable data?

Is My Privacy Protected with EarthVPN?

EarthVPN respects your privacy ”, this is the very first statement you will encounter on this VPN provider’s privacy policy. The VPN service “ neither logs VPN usage nor user activity ”, according to their logging policy.

However, the company later states that they do in fact collect users’ personal information, which includes your “ first name, username, email address, password (encrypted) and IP address ”. Regardless of when this is done, it is quite concerning that they collect the IP address of users, and this is something not many VPN users would be fond of. Though they have an explanation for why they collect this information, it is still unacceptable for a VPN service to collect such personal information from users.

EarthVPN, however, states, “ Under no circumstances we will provide any personal or private information to third parties ”. The company also includes that they will perform a manual investigation if they are informed by law enforcement agencies about any criminal activities.

On the whole, though the fact that EarthVPN is located in a region where there is no data retention laws, knowing that they collect personal information from users is an issue that can be quite concerning. Also, another downside is that there is no information about the existence of a kill switch, so we concluded that they do not offer that option.

How Much is EarthVPN? Is There a Free Trial?

EarthVPN offers two different pricing plans: a monthly plan and an annual plan. The monthly plan is priced at $3.99 per month, and the yearly plan at $39.99 per year. It goes without saying that EarthVPN is perhaps the most affordable VPN service we have seen so far, and the fact that it offers a comprehensive set of features for such low prices is even more amazing.

But don’t get excited too early. Aside from these regular plans, EarthVPN also allows users to opt for add-on products at a price of $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year, and some of these products include: shared static IP, dynamic port forwarding, SSL and AES 256-bit encryption, additional VPN connection, and more. Now this is something very unusual for a VPN service provider to offer. What this seems like to us is that the VPN service tries to compensate for its reduced pricing with these add-ons, because we very well know that most of these features come included in the regular package with all other VPN providers. Nonetheless, even with the add-on price included, it’s still really affordable.

The VPN service offers a 7 day money back guarantee and accepts a lot of different payment methods, including all major credit cards, PayPal, AliPay, Discover via PayPal, Bitcoins, CashU, Paysafecard, Ukash, and WebMoney.

EarthVPN Speed Test

EarthVPN has 190 physical VPN locations in 54 countries and 6 continents across the globe, making it a VPN service provider with one of the vastest networks. With such a huge network of servers, we would obviously expect great speeds from the VPN service, which the company also promises to deliver.

Well, unfortunately, this was not the case. During our speed tests, we noticed that the speeds were not consistent throughout the testing phase. Regardless of the server and protocol we chose, the speeds continued to fluctuate. However, the connection itself was reliable because we did not encounter a single disconnection during the time. And although the VPN service has servers optimized for torrent and P2P traffic, with such fluctuating speeds, you may not be able to use the features to your liking.

A great plus point for EarthVPN is that it has provisions to prevent every possible leak, which proved to be true during our tests.

How is Customer Service at EarthVPN?

EarthVPN offers customer service via two methods: support ticket and email. Whether you need help with installations or have a general query, you can contact the team only by writing them an email or by submitting a ticket. While the VPN service claims to offer 24/7/365 customer support, the response to our query took a few hours, which is obviously contradictory to their claim.

One positive aspect is that the service’s FAQ section is highly comprehensive, to the point that you will be able to resolve your issues before you receive a response email from the customer support team.

The EarthVPN website is very professional, everything laid out clearly, and is highly user-friendly and easy to navigate. All the menus are positioned right, so finding the information you need wouldn’t be a problem at all.

The signup process is also quite easy. After choosing the product or subscription package of your choice, you will be required to choose from the add-ons (optional), and enter a desired username and password for your EarthVPN account.

EarthVPN support several different operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and Mac OS, enabling users to access the service on any device they prefer, including PDAs and routers.

The VPN service supports all major VPN protocols, provides access to its vast network of servers, has dedicated servers for torrent and P2P activities, does not limit bandwidth, maintains no logs, helps bypass restrictions, provides access to geolocated movie sites, and encrypts your connection. These were the features they listed on their website, meaning you get them with the basic package, and with paying for add-on, as mentioned before, you can also get the best encryption, Mobile VPN Account, SSH Tunnel/Socks, port forwarding and shared static IP.

Is EarthVPN Safe?

One of the best aspects of EarthVPN is its security features. The VPN service supports all major VPN protocols, such as PPTP, L2TP, OpenVPN, SSTP, and SSH/Socks Proxy. Users are allowed to choose a protocol that best suits the device they use, with or without paying for one, depending on their choice.

The types of encryption used by the VPN service differ according to the protocol you choose. For OpenVPN protocol, it supports both 128-bit and 256-bit encryption standards; for SSTP, 256-bit encryption; for L2TP, once again 256-bit AES encryption; for PPTP, it is 128-bit; and for SSH/Socks Proxy, it supports both 128-bit and 256-bit AES encryption. Also, EarthVPN does a great job in preventing DNS, WebRTC, and IP leaks.

Bottom Line

EarthVPN, without a doubt, is a bargain for the many amazing features that it offers. However, as we discussed, there are several features that the VPN service offers as add-ons and charges extra, but it’s still an affordable price.  While the VPN service excels in its security features, it lacks a bit in terms of privacy, speed, and customer service, which are areas that need just a few adjustments here and there. Overall, Earth VPN is a decent and cheap VPN provider.

This VPN service “ neither logs VPN usage nor user activity ”, according to their logging policy. However, when I used it, they asked for first name, username, email address, password (encrypted) and IP address. This was very disgusting, What is their responsibility?
What I loved about EarthVPN is that it has provisions to prevent every possible leak. Which proved to be true to me. While I was on this platform, I felt so secure, thank you very much.
EarthVPN website is very professional. Everything laid out clearly and is highly user-friendly and easy to navigate. The signup process was also quite easy. I appreciate, this is real value for my money.
After a lengthy navigation on this VPN. I discovered that unlike the other leading VPN providers, EarthVPN did not give me the kill switch option at all. This is my biggest concern.
EarthVPN did not limit bandwidth. It also maintained no logs and helped me to bypass restrictions, provided access to geolocated movie sites. Finally it encrypted myr connection. Good work guys, keep the spirit up.
I noted that despite the server and protocol I chose, the speeds continued to fluctuate from time to time. Although I did not encounter a single disconnection during my session. They should improve on the speed.
EarthVPN supports several different operating systems. These included: Windows, Linux, and Mac OS, enabled me to access the service on any device that I prefferd. Also, I was able to access PDAs and routers.
This VPN service supported all major VPN protocols. It provided me access to its vast network of servers. It has dedicated servers for torrent and P2P activities. I liked it so much, thank you and keep up the good work.
It is a fact that EarthVPN only offers customer service via two methods. This are the support ticket and email. I think introducing phone services will be a plus.
The company also includes that they will perform a manual investigation. As long as they are informed by law enforcement agencies about any criminal activities. I paid money so as to keep my privacy private.
