Celo VPN review
It is not uncommon in today’s VPN world to find a VPN that is equally adored by many, but at the same time also hated by many. Okay, maybe hate is too strong of a word, but Celo VPN has brought about some very mixed reactions among its users.
The name Celo was derived from the Latin language, and it means to hide, conceal or keep secret. Celo VPN came a long way and now serves countless clients around the globe. Being client-centric, Celo provides reliable, safe and affordable services to its users with its team of experienced and highly trained professionals, striving to provide their users with superior support. Celo VPN servers are widely distributed in about six major countries in the world.
Is My Privacy Protected with Celo VPN?
Celo VPN prides itself on it’s a strict no-logging policy, which means that its user’s activities are not monitored in any way. This should be expected from every VPN but has now proven to be a luxury, because most VPNs now monitor user data and logs, and have come out to state that they will provide these details to the authorities should it come to that.
- We do not log any user activity.
- We do not keep any server logs.
- We do not give your personal info to any third parties.
- We do not cooperate with any requests for information unless we are ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction. The vast majority of these requests would not be from a court of competent jurisdiction.
How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you register in the following ways:
- To quickly process your transactions.
- To follow up with them after correspondence (live chat or email).
How do we protect your information?
Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our website as safe as possible.
Your personal information is kept behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of people, who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
We implement a variety of security measures when a user enters, submits, or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.
All transactions are processed through a gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information.
We do not include or offer third party products or services on our website. We have not enabled Google AdSense on our website, but we may do so in the future.
How Much is Celo VPN? Is There a Free Trial?
When we mention the price of a particular VPN, it is only natural to go for an economically friendly VPN that gives us maximum benefits. Cost is one of the obvious factors to consider when paying for a VPN of your choice. Celo VPN has gone out of its way to offer a two-day trial unlike many VPNs that only offer a 24-hour trial, which barely gives you time to check out the VPN’s features. This makes CELO VPN stand out from the crowd of VPNs out there. Currently, the following 4 packages are offered by the provider:
The yearly package costs $66 per year, thus saving you $18, compared to the monthly package which costs $7 per month. Unlike other VPNs that limit bandwidth on paid packages, there is no performance discrimination that exists between CELO VPN packages, except the price difference.
Their refund policies are reasonable as well.
a. If you are less than 100% satisfied with the Services, we will gladly refund your payment if the refund is requested within ten (10) days from the date of purchase. Requests made later than the 10-day purchase date will not be honored.
b. You understand that by paying with variably priced currencies, you are using a payment method that may fluctuate a large amount in value in a short period of time. You agree that any refunds for transactions using these methods will be assessed at the USD exchange rate at the time of the refund, and not at the time of the original transaction or refund request.
c. You also understand that certain cash equivalents or other payment methods may not allow for refunds or that refunds may happen slowly or that refunds may have service fees associated with them. You agree and acknowledge that Celo is not liable if a payment method does not allow for refunds. You will receive an offer for service in lieu of a refund if a payment method does not allow a refund.
Celo VPN Speed Test
VPNs need to be secure, but they also need to be fast. Any extra layer of encryption you add to beef up security will naturally result in a slower connection. However, users shouldn’t have to put up with these snail speeds just to stay anonymous, there should be a good balance.
Speed wise, I am happy with Celo VPN because it has strained every nerve to provide users with great speeds and some good solid encryption as well. In terms of speed, Celo VPN ranks at 24 out of 74 VPNs tested.
How is Customer Service at Celo VPN?
Customer Support for Celo VPN can be contacted via email, social media, and live chat. There is also a Support section which you can look at before emailing them, which sounds very promising.
Customer support is one of the features that every individual seeks before making the final subscription. A user should be able to get a quick response to his or her query and it is very annoying when the VPN faces technical issues that require too much help to fix. Nearly every VPN provider promises a 24-hour live chat support but in reality, they don’t respond.
CELO VPN provides a reasonably fast live chat system. Not the best in any way, but the live chat system is seamless and the technical Support representative generally replies within minutes of your query. Customer support with Celo is user friendly and pretty helpful in solving matters involving the VPN. I think this also places Celo VPN slightly above most of the other VPNs, whose customer support is nearly nonexistent.

Is Celo VPN Safe?
Celo VPN generally supports three protocols: OpenVPN, SSTP or L2TP/IPSec.
OpenVPN is the standard that you’ll want to stay with in most cases. Otherwise, iOS devices will often use IPSec by default.
Celo VPN also uses the VPN industry-standard 256-bit encryption which guarantees that you will have nothing to worry about because this state of the art encryption is pretty standard.
Torrenting with Celo VPN is allowed, however, I did notice some DNS leaks after testing, which undercuts the whole point of a VPN.
Celo is an Australian-based VPN and Australia is a member of the five eyes agreement that dates back to a couple of decades. In this agreement, several countries came together and agreed to share intelligence information for the sake of world peace. For that reason alone, Celo may not be the best VPN for you, especially considering that we get VPNs to get maximum online privacy.
Celo is a great VPN generally. It offers a great balance of features at reasonably great prices and their policies are clear, which proves their transparency as a VPN provider. The DNS leaks, however, are a thing to worry about. However, aside from that and the fact that it is based in Australia I see no other reason to discard this VPN in favor of the others.
