Blockless VPN review

We see a whole lot of VPNs in this modern age, most of which provide basic perks at a reasonable price. However, very rarely will you find a VPN company that has made it their business to ensure that your safety and privacy on the Internet are just as respected and protected as your basic human rights.
Yes, you got that right. Allow me to introduce you to the world of the very reputable Blockless VPN, whose core values revolve around security and transparency. To help you achieve these core values, Blockless VPN provides features that not only help you hide your IP address, but also help you install bank-level security.
You can tell just from the sound of their core values that Blockless VPN is a force to be reckoned with. Which is why we have taken time to look into it and rigorously examine whether or not this VPN in particular could be a winner among all these other VPNs.
Blockless VPN is a Canadian-based VPN that initially started out as a Smart DNS provider, and then later evolved and started offering VPN service. It has servers in about 14 countries, high speed connections, cross platform software, preconfigured servers for torrenting and a 7-day free trial. With all these perks, it’s easy to think that this VPN is heaven-sent, but upon testing it out, I have acquired some mixed feelings.

Is My Privacy Protected with Blockless?

Blockless VPN claims to have a zero-loggings policy, but their service agreement, Privacy Policy, and Terms of service state otherwise. Of course, the average user wouldn’t know this because their policies have been written in about ten thousand words, but my eyes are wide open when it comes to things like this.
”Except with your consent, we will not sell, license, trade, or rent your personal information to or with others. Blockless may share personal information with third parties engaged to assist us in providing the Services to you or to carry out one or more of the purposes described above (such as our payment providers, PayPal® and Stripe®, will receive your credit card information, name, and contact details to manage the payment process). These service providers are prohibited from using your personal information for any purpose other than to provide the required assistance and are required to:
(I) Protect any personal information collected by them on behalf of Blockless or disclosed to them by Blockless; and (II) to comply with the general privacy principles described in this Privacy Policy. Blockless reserves the right to disclose personal information to a third party if a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena, or court order legally requires or authorizes us to do so. Blockless also reserves the right to disclose or transfer personal information to a third party in the event of a proposed or actual purchase, sale (including a liquidation, realization, foreclosure or repossession), lease, merger, amalgamation or any other type of acquisition, disposal, transfer, conveyance or financing of all or any portion of Blockless or of any of the business or assets or shares of Blockless or a division thereof in order for you to continue to receive the same products and services from the third party.”
This is not necessarily a deal-breaker, but for those who want absolute privacy and anonymity, this is one of the things you should be aware of. Many users read the policies only to the point out that it states “zero logs”, but don’t bother to read the rest of the clause where most VPN companies reveal that they do actually keep some logs and are open to sharing them should the court order the same.

How Much is Blockless? Is There a Free Trial?

Blockless VPN has reasonably affordable prices. Not cheap compared to other VPNs, but I think they are pretty okay with the monthly charge starting at $9.95 and a semiannual fee that kicks in at $53. You get a much better deal if you purchase the annual plan at $89.95. Again, not as cheap as you would expect. You’d hope that, on the yearly plan, the rates would drop significantly, but seems like $89.95 is as far low as they can drop.
Luckily, Blockless VPN does have a free 7-day trial of its premium service without limitations. I think this is great because it gives you time to check it out thoroughly, and is much better than some VPNs which offer only a one-hour trial or none at all.
The paid plan gives you some identical features like advanced ad blocker, access to all 14 regions, up to five connected devices, ultra-fast speed, and streaming SmartDNS.
Blockless VPN, however, offers no refunds, and there have been a couple of negative reviews where users have complained about not being able to cancel their subscriptions, which in all honesty raises eyebrows.

Blockless Speed Test

Getting the speed test with Blockless VPN presented quite the challenge. However, I found the download speed quite decent. The upload speed on the other hand was nearly non-existent, but when it came up it was not that impressive either.

I really wouldn’t recommend this for streaming, but if you can handle such speeds then more power to you.

How is Customer Service at Blockless?

Although Blockless VPN claims to have 24/7 active customer support, I found their live chat to be pretty dead. You will literally get a response on the live chat after a few hours. I don’t know about you, but this doesn’t really work for me. On other platforms, however, it was quite fast but not as efficient as I would prefer because they don’t provide deep answers to difficult questions about their own brand. The FAQ page on their website does provide a whole lot of information though, which means that you wouldn’t have to keep contacting customer support unless it is crucial.

Blockless VPN offers native apps for mobile devices and desktops, but does not provide the same for Linux. They do offer a Chrome extension, as detailed on their website and do provide extensive directions on how to set up their DNS service on Smart TVs.
The desktop app is sleek and very simple, which I like because it has minimum toggles. This is great if you are new, but if you are one of those tech-geniuses who like to look way under the hood, then I am afraid that you are out of options here.
Like I mentioned earlier, Blockless VPN allows up to five simultaneous connections and access to 14 regions, which is enough for many. With Blockless VPN there is a bit of censorship if you read closely into their Privacy Policy. "We may... remove, block, filter or restrict... any materials or information... that we consider to be... violations of the restrictions... in these terms and conditions." This raises the question of whether or not Blockless VPN will block or censor some websites or Internet services which they feel are inappropriate?
It is also worth noticing that their list of “stuff you can’t do” is a little too extensive. I mean, absolutely everyone bans anything that alludes directly or indirectly to child pornography, but Blockless VPN completely forbids all porn - period! Blockless VPN does not allow you to use their service in a way that “incites, encourages, solicits, collects, displays, and/or advocates... pornography” which is far-reaching in my opinion.

Is Blockless Safe?

With Blockless VPN, security is an absolute mystery. They do not provide details of what encryption or protocol they use, which sort of makes it sound like they don’t entirely own their servers or a third party can potentially have access to the users’ data.

Bottom Line

This service looks very impressive, but when it comes to real content, it is utterly disappointing. How can a VPN service be so mysterious? Tech savvy individuals will most definitely be frustrated with this VPN because it literally doesn’t provide any real information on security, and is way too strict for a VPN service.
I can understand having to keep some logs as per Canadian laws, but to take it upon yourself to censor your users’ access and content is outrageous, especially for the amount they charge for premium services. This VPN is a little too basic and too strict for me. I am down to follow strict rules on everything else, but not for a VPN that I have to pay $89 for.

I don’t know why the Blockless claims to have a live chat platform and yet it is dead most of the time. There is no time where I get a quick response when contacting them. I am greatly disappointed with their customer care services.
I usually go for an annual plan when using Blockless VPN and I have to agree that it saves me a lot from having to spend a couple of dollars on a monthly plan. Nonetheless, more work needs to be done on their customer care desk.
Some of my friends claim that the speeds are super awesome. However, I find them to be just above average. When streaming content over the internet, there are times when it drags which is frustrating.
There are several apps that Blockless VPN provider offers. I am a huge fan of chrome and I use their app to easily configure my VPN settings. I find this to be quite helpful on my end.
Compared with other long-term plans that I have used, Blockless VPN is just not affordable. Personally, I feel as though there is no difference in paying monthly and paying for an annual plan. The difference is just so small.
