The Internet network we use for daily activities should be secure and transparent. Virtual private networks should be chosen after detailed analysis of all the different companies in the market.

Is My Privacy Protected with Avast SecureLine VPN?

Avast SecureLine VPN has one of the most user-friendly privacy policies, and it does provide great benefits to the subscriber in terms of privacy and anonymity. US based Avast subscribers must understand that the company stores and handles all internet activity and data according to the US data retention laws, making the VPN unattractive for the user. This also applies to Swiss subscribers. Avast follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection. Subscribers from other countries need not worry about data retention laws. Avast doesn’t keep any connection log activities from the internet actions performed by users in other countries.
Avast SecureLine is based in Czech Republic, which is free from any kind of data retention laws. Metadata collection is standard, and it's done by most VPN providers to gauge and improve their service quality. Time and location of your connection is stored for 30 days then automatically deleted.
Avast SecureLine VPN uses a 256-bit AES encrypted network connection, delivering superior privacy. Payments are not accepted in cryptocurrencies, gift cards, or other virtual currencies, meaning your real name is mandatory for registration. Most VPN consumers don't like this. A kill switch feature is not available, so you can't expect to automatically disconnect when your VPN server connection gets lost or terminated for whatever reason.

How is Customer Service at Avast SecureLine VPN?

Avast SecureLine is one of the best VPN service providers in the market, especially in light of the customer support it offers to subscribers. New subscribers and pro users can check out the forum and information section to get the overview they need. As soon as you open the support section, you see a search tab, which guides you to the desired result instantly, and 24/7 phone support and ticket raising support goes along with their service offering, which can come in handy. Support sections exclusively for sales, billing, refund, and activation are available, and your tickets are answered swiftly. Email support is also provided and you can expect a solid answer from the company in under 24 hours. Avast SecureLine VPN client also gives you the opportunity to connect with the support staff of the organization directly. The company is exceptional in transparency and support.

As far as features are concerned, we regret having to report that Avast SecureLine is not up to the mark compared to other top performers. With a limited number of servers operating from a handful of countries, the features list is bound to be less than other full-fledged service providers. The user interface is exceptional and easy to use across all devices, the only negative might be a smartphone that has a smaller screen. Configuration settings offered by the service provider are very limited compared to other companies. Protocol switching is not applicable here, and you can't select the type of protocol network you want. Windows and Android subscribers can connect with only the OpenVPN protocol-based network, and Mac and iOS users can connect only with a IPSec protocol network. There are no built-in user settings to automatically connect with a VPN when your device starts or when you connect to an insecure Wi-Fi. An ad blocking feature is not provided by the company.
Unlimited bandwidth range is provided, which makes it an excellent choice for streaming videos. Simultaneous connections across five devices is offered, and, in select servers, you can get P2P sharing as well. Servers operating in New York, Prague, Miami, Amsterdam, London, Seattle, and other locations support P2P sharing, so you could connect with any of these to get exactly that. No DNS leaks, data leaks, or connection leaks are evident, which means the network is highly safe and secure for your online activity. Extremely user-friendly interface gives it an edge.

Is Avast SecureLine VPN Safe?

Avast SecureLine VPN has a strong security framework background with its exceptional antivirus software. They've brought this expertise and made their VPN very secure. As stated already, OpenVPN and IPSec are the two protocols on offer and there are no other protocol options. Even in the case of these two, OpenVPN can be chosen by Android and Windows users only, and iOS and Mac users can connect only with an IPSec server. There were DNS leak issues in the past and those were resolved by the company, so you can expect a no leak encryption. You can count on your data being safe and secure. OpenVPN protocol is the best in terms of security and network speed, Expect no problems with it. A 256-bit AES encrypted network gives you security against all threats. Proprietary security software encrypts all the ports. Your connections will stay secure no matter what. Logs are kept, as discussed earlier, but they shouldn't pose any major threat or problem to subscribers. A zero log policy would be the best, but you could make your peace with the Avast setup.

Bottom Line

Avast SecureLine VPN service definitely strikes a chord amongst new subscribers who are looking for a fast and secure VPN. It will also be the preferred choice for existing Avast security product users who already know the company. This VPN is not for advanced users who are looking for features such as double VPN, an automatic kill switch, and other advanced user tools. The free trial also makes it easy to test the service before buying. The lack of protocol options is a big downside. On the whole, Avast is one of the decent VPN options available in the market for new subscribers.
