BeeVPN: Is this a robust choice?

BeeVPN is one of those services that thrive to deliver business level features to an individual.  The feature package and customer support are the strong points of this company, but the lack of speed is still the talking point.

BeeVPN is a simple and easy to use service with many top features offered at an affordable price. The company was founded in 2009 in Denmark and is a well-known name in this space.

Is My Privacy Protected with BeeVPN?

We must mention the fact that we are totally disappointed with BeeVPN with respect to their Privacy Policy, because there simply isn’t one. They have been in the business since 2009 and it is quite frustrating to see a company not openly disclosing its official Privacy Policy. Subscribers who are keen on knowing the VPN’s Privacy Policy details should contact the customer support department to know more.
When we inquired about the policy details, the support team were friendly enough to get back to us with all the information we might need. Clients’ usage and activity logs are tracked and monitored. Information on total bytes utilized by a single user per session in and out are noted. Apart from this, there is no detail with respect to the time of logs, connection logs and so on. This means that they do maintain certain logs, but not much for a subscriber to worry about seriously. But, having said that, the zero-logging policy is by far the best thing as far as privacy is concerned, and BeeVPN doesn’t seem to practice it.
Partial logging is something certain users would not appreciate, because you never know what is logged and how the logged data is utilized. The fact that BeeVPN is based in Denmark gives an assurance to subscribers that the company does not have to abide by other countries’ online rules or intelligent agency instructions. A kill switch feature is also not on offer, which certainly brings down the privacy rating a lot. If you are having doubts about the privacy level offered by this service provider, then you should consider looking at some other companies.

How Much is BeeVPN? Is There a Free Trial?

The BeeVPN service provider offers 3 different subscription plans and the feature specifications are kept the same across all plans. The only difference is the duration of the membership plans.

  • Monthly – 11.99 €
  • 3 months – 23.97 € for the entire period, which relates to 7.99 €/month
  • Yearly – 79.08 € for the whole year, which relates to 6.59 €/month

Additionally, users have the option of selecting a mobile add-on, which lets the user connect to the VPN via smartphone, tablet and router. This mobile add-on will cost you 1.19 € and the price is the same for all subscription plans. Long-term subscription plans cost you lower than the monthly option, as always.
The official statement with respect to the money-back guarantee mentioned on their website is – “If the product does not work – you get your money back. We would like to have a chance to support you first though.” There is no free trial on offer, which is disappointing, since users do not have the option to test the service. Multiple payment methods are accepted, including VISA, Master Card, Maestro, Diners Club, JCB, PayPal and Bitcoin.

BeeVPN Speed Test

Connection speeds are one of the most important features to test out in a VPN service provider, since this will determine how fast or slow you could enjoy the Internet connection. On testing out the connection speed across multiple European servers of BeeVPN, we did find the speed to decrease by a huge margin of almost 2 Mbps, which is not good. UK server connection speeds were the poorest of the lot. Denmark servers, on the other hand, were better than the rest, which is common, since the company’s HQ is located there.
This general lack of speed will put off subscribers who are mainly looking to access videos, movies, TV shows, and also perform general web streaming from remote locations. P2P sharing and torrenting will also be lackluster, so if you are one such subscriber, then you need to look elsewhere. The only explanation given by the company towards this general lack in pace is the security features that they use, which is understandable to a certain degree.

How is Customer Service at BeeVPN?

The company states that it delivers 24/7/365 customer support and that they are dedicated to deliver best in class support to its customers, which is an excellent aspect of BeeVPN. The only problem with the support is that it is hard to find and this is where a separate tab or link would have come in handy. Users will have to click on the ‘Company Legal’ info to check out the support details. Email support is the only form on offer and from our experience, we did get replies from the team really quickly.
There is a separate email contact for general and other customer support queries, which can be used for assistance. BeeVPN is not transparent, just like most of the VPN companies on the market. You would not be able to find the address or official contact details of the company anywhere on their website. On average, customer support query response times were somewhere around 30 minutes to 1 hour, which is remarkable. The addition of a live chat support would have been great.

BeeVPN is known for its exceptional lineup of features and some of you might be attracted towards this aspect alone, because other factors are not up to the mark, as you can see. The website is simple, but does lack enough details on the home page. New users would find it hard to navigate through their pages in order to find the information they are looking for. Once you sign up for a particular plan, you will be able to login to your very own customer area that consists of all the features you might need. All the technical VPN settings and user account details can be found on this page. No other VPN service provider offers such an intuitive customer area.

The signup procedure was found to be simple. The option of adding mobile add-on was easy and as a result, payments were as well. On the whole, everything was smooth and the signup process was complete within a few minutes.
BeeVPN is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, Apple TV, router, Play Station, iPad etc. and the setup guides for all these different devices are also provided on the official website. CISCO AnyConnect Secure Mobility client software should be installed through the process and we will discuss the benefit that this offers in the following section. Apart from this, BeeVPN also packs a punch in terms of its other feature offerings:

  • Unlimited server switching.
  • DTLS and IPSec protocols.
  • No outsourcing.
  • Company operated network.
  • Multiple outbound gateway locations.
  • Excellent support.
  • RIPE LIR member.
  • Company operated servers.

Is BeeVPN Safe?

As mentioned earlier, the CISCO client software is utilized by BeeVPN, which delivers the best in class security. A DTLS protocol network is the proprietary CISCO security feature that provides maximum security and data protection. This particular protocol also uses the 256-bit AES encryption by default, so this network follows zero compromise on security. This is the best modern-day security feature available at the moment. Individuals who want security more than anything else can definitely choose BeeVPN.
Unlike many other VPN service providers, BeeVPN does not outsource servers or software. What you see is what you get, and since everything is owned and operated by the company, strong security is a sure thing. IPv6, IPv4, DNS and WebRTC leak test results were positive with no visible leaks detected.

Bottom Line

As you can see from our discussion here, BeeVPN is definitely inconsistent across the board. Features, customer support and security are the high points, whereas privacy, pricing and speed are the low points. Subscribers with a specific need for security can choose BeeVPN for sure. This service provider does stand apart from others in terms of its offerings, but there is plenty of room for improvement to become the best all-round VPN.
