AzireVPN: Best in terms of security and privacy?
AzireVPN is a Swedish company which was founded in the year 2012 and is one of the well-known brands in the VPN industry. It is owned and operated by Netbouncer AB, a company known to be employing people who are experts in network and security areas.
AzireVPN has been working hard over the years to provide the best features for their subscribers and the motive of delivering the best to the subscriber is highly appreciated by experts.
Is My Privacy Protected with AzireVPN?
AzireVPN Terms of Service is very much direct and is explained to the point, making it easy for customers to comprehend. The official statement given by the company is that –
“AzireVPN does NOT log any traffic or user activity while using our service.
AzireVPN does NOT log timestamps or any information relating to when a user connects/disconnects from our service.
AzireVPN does NOT log or shape any bandwidth on our servers.
AzireVPN does NOT log the original IP addresses of our users when they connect OR their AzireVPN IP address when they are using our service.
AzireVPN does NOT log the number of your active sessions or total sessions.
AzireVPN does NOT log your DNS requests on our servers.”
From this, it is very clear that AzireVPN follows a zero-logging policy. None of the Internet activities in the form of traffic log, timestamps, bandwidth, IP, sessions, DNS requests and so on are monitored and/or tracked. This is great from a subscriber’s point of view because very few companies follow such a policy. We cannot vouch for this policy completely, but from various customer reviews and expert opinions, we can certainly say that they are offering great privacy.
AzireVPN is also supposed to follow only the Swedish jurisdiction laws. Hence, this can be the best VPN for you if you wish to connect with US, UK, Mexico and European servers. Subscribers need not worry about other countries’ Internet laws or prohibitions. Sweden is free in terms of its Internet laws, just like most of the European countries. Hence, there is no compulsion for the company to maintain logs or monitor user activities. The addition of a kill switch feature would have made the deal sweeter.
How Much is AzireVPN? Is There a Free Trial?
- Monthly – 5€
- 3 months – 13€ for the plan which means 4.3€/month
- Yearly – 45€/year and this means monthly price is just 3.75€
There is an organization-specific membership plan, which is yet to be unveiled by the company. The official statement in the Terms of Service states, “AzireVPN offers 24 hours free trial on request, send an e-mail to our support with your username stating that you request free trial.” From the statement, it is clear that it is your responsibility to create an account and then contact support for a free trial, which simply means you need to sign up for a membership plan before opting for the free trial. This is not ideal for any new subscriber.
A 7-day money-back guarantee is assured by the company and users have to raise the refund request within 7 days of making payment for the membership plan. Subscribers should also note that, refund is not provided in the case of a 1-month plan, and for those who make payments with Bitcoin. Multiple payment methods such as VISA, MasterCard, PayPal, American Express, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Monero, Ethereum, Verge, Doge and Dash are supported by AzireVPN.
AzireVPN Speed Test
At this point in time, the company operates 22 dedicated servers in 5 different countries. Considering the low server count, we cannot rate the speed to be one of the best in the industry. Speed tests were conducted on both European and North American servers. European servers were found to deliver good download and upload speeds when compared to North American servers. UK servers, in particular, gave pretty good speeds, with a download speed of 40Mbps and an upload speed of 51Mbps. The US-based server was found to deliver download speeds of just 15Mbps. There is no proprietary Android OS application; hence, a third party OpenVPN app is the only option for users, which means overall performance and app experience is going to be mediocre.
If you are looking to get the best high speed US server, then this is not the service for you, because there aren’t many servers operating from the US, and even the few servers operating from the country do not deliver groundbreaking speeds.
On the whole, speed test results can be rated as good. To be fair to the service provider, the connection was steady and consistent throughout with no interruptions. Torrenting is supported, but at this speed, you cannot expect a fast download performance.
How is Customer Service at AzireVPN?
Contact form support is the only form of communication a subscriber can have with the support staff of AzireVPN. All you need to do is type your email address and fill the message tab with your query and send it to the support team. One could expect a positive response from the team within a matter of 6 hours or less. The answer that we received for a complex question was straightforward and to the point. There are no fancy support features such as live chat support, phone, or email support. Installation guides, configuration files, FAQs and security check support modules are available.
The AzireVPN website is pleasing to the eye and everything falls into place easily. New users will not have any issues finding the details they are looking for.
The account registration process is very simple and easy. Just select the membership plan you are comfortable with and make the payment using any of the payment methods accepted by the company. You should be able to finish the process in under 5 minutes. You will receive a welcome email with all the details necessary to help you get started with the VPN service.
OS support is offered for most of the major platforms such as Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android and iOS. Even DDWRT router support is offered, and as mentioned here, you can expect only device and OS support from the company. There is no proprietary software on offer, but setup guides are offered. Even a smartphone app is not available. Users have to download and use a third party OpenVPN app on their smartphones to make use of the AzireVPN connection. Firefox, Chrome and IE are the three different browsers supported by this VPN.
Let us check out the different feature specifications:
- 22 servers across 5 locations.
- 5 simultaneous connections.
- Unlimited server switching.
- Unlimited bandwidth.
- P2P traffic is allowed.
- WireGuard protocol support.
- No logging policy.
- OpenVPN and SOCKS5 protocol support.
- Good customer support.
The features might not be extensive, but all of these are more than enough for a normal user to secure confidence over the service quality.
Is AzireVPN Safe?
WireGuard, OpenVPN and SOCKS5 protocol support are the 3 different encryption protocols supported by the company. We know how secure SOCKS5 and OpenVPN protocols are, so let us discuss the modern WireGuard protocol technology. WireGuard is the latest technology protocol that is found to deliver groundbreaking security without compromising speed and latency. This strong encryption can now be connected using MacOS, Linux, Android and OpenWRT routers, so if you are one using any of these devices, do make it a point to connect to AzireVPN servers using this high security connection.
Now, moving on to the encryption parameters, AzireVPN uses 256-bit AES encryption for data, 2048-bit RSA for key authentication and HMAC SHA512 for digest authentication. All of these put together deliver the best level of security you need. Fortunately, no leaks were detected in the multiple leak tests – IPv6, IPv4, DNS and WebRTC – conducted during our tests. Security and privacy are top notch with respect to AzireVPN.
To sum it up, it should be said that AzireVPN is an all-round VPN service provider delivering top class security, privacy, pricing and customer support. The setup process is also simple. The addition of high-level security features does bring down speed, but this is understandable. The company could have provided a proprietary software for the different devices, making it easy for the subscribers. Another major drawback is the lack of servers, and as you might know, there are hardly any servers for individuals to work around. We hope that the company will increase its server count with time and become one of the leading VPNs.
